Uakari confirmed that I should update on what I've been doing all this time. (Hah, what's up with me vanishing!) Anyways mostly I've spent an awful lot of time drawing. Here are a few of the results that I'm happier with:

I wanted to draw a big, intimidating dragon with Kurogane riding it, and somehow got distracted. After already finishing, Faren did something awesome and wrote me a fanfiction to go with it: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6709269/1/The_Knight_and_the_Princess. I was completely flabberghasted and loved it.

So... well, the thing I like the most about this pic is actually the tiny, flying ship in the background in the upper right half. Even though it's unobtrusive, it's the thing that actually triggered this. I mean, flying ships? Yes please!

In the end, Kurogane got his dragon anyways. I was such a nerd for dinosaurs, when I was a child. I like that the T-Rex looks so terrified -- I didn't really plan on that, but when it came out that way, I laughed and left it.

I love steampunk and I always felt like my skills wouldn't be enough to draw the machines properly -- I made some progress and so I just tried! The thing I like the most about this (besides having stuff exploding in Syaoran's face) is Kurogane's impossible, steam-powered arm. I'll definitely rework it, when I draw them again in this setting. People keep telling me, they like his pants better, though. *g*
Also, I've been quite absent the last weeks... I guess it has at least partially to do with me being pretty down for a time, only now I start getting my spirits up, again. However, they're finally rising! :D Hopefully that means I'm going into writing again, fun as art is, I miss looking deeper. Whatever may come, I will try to keep LJ updated, from now on! :)

Date: 2011-02-14 02:52 am (UTC)My favorite recurring theme in these is Syaoran's O_O face. That poor kid...
Fay and Sakura on the phoenix is just gorgeous - I'm going to have to go read this fic now! I kind of like how he and Kurogane each have their flying beasts that they're associated with. Ooooh...you could totally do a sister piece with Kurogane and Syaoran on a dragon...although the dinosaur pic is halfway there! (I'm so madly in love with the dinosaur...ahaha!)
The steam-punk picture is AMAZING! I love steam-punk and I love even more that you've mixed it with Tsubasa! What did Mokona do to Syaoran's machine....? He looks like he's about to take a swing at her... Kurogane's golden arm is great as well (and funny - one my theme songs for him for when I'm writing LFM is Man With the Golden Arm). Is the tank on his back the steam engine for it? Also - assless chaps...YUM (too bad he has pants on underneath!)
Beautiful work me dear!! Hooray for rising spirits and I'm excited that you're looking into writing more!!!

Date: 2011-02-14 03:14 am (UTC)God, just researching the dinosaur was fun... XD And I know so much more about steam engines now... Well, I just had to live a few of my nerdy tendencies!
Syaoran really is just very disgruntled because the machine just had to explode into his face -- again -- and now he isn't quite sure what kind of glob he stuck his hand into... but I guess Mokona distracting him until he hit his elbow on something and it blowing up in his face wouldn't be that unlikely! *laughing*
Kurogane's work pants are a frivolity. *g* Yes, the tank is actually a miniature steam engine, I stole it from this amazing steam powered bicycle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dampf-Fahrrad_2.jpg) -- also, there's absolutely no way it'd work. XD' It'd get too hot to carry around on his back and translation absolutely wouldn't work as soon as he moved. How translation would work in the first place, is a completely different problem. Will redo it, in another picture. *scribbles away*
I still go this heap of an unfinished fanfiction lying around that I definitely should finish -- it has aliens! 8D

Date: 2011-02-14 03:20 am (UTC)It always just kills me how much we end up learning from writing and drawing - it's actually one of my favorite parts. Even though you probably know more than you need to about dinosaurs and steam engines (and possibly My Little Ponies) and I know more than I ever cared too about greek mythology :D
ALIENS??? SQUEEE!!! I am sending good vibes your way so you're inspired to finish!!

Date: 2011-02-14 03:48 am (UTC)So true -- I always learn more from writing than from drawing, though, because both is acted out on different levels. I actually have a hard time puzzling sentences together, when I'm concentrated on visuals. When writing, on the other hand, I will gobble up sentences and paragraphs and ask for more, while I skim the pictures only for the overall impression. I love both though. X)
TRC NEEDS MORE SCIENCE FICTION!! 8D (And possibly dinosaurs, but they won't fit in there, too.)

Date: 2011-02-14 06:37 am (UTC)The first three pics, well, I saw these before... The phoenix one is just lovely! I love Fai and Sakura's relationship so much, in a purely platonic way of course. I love Fai's silly grin combined with Sakura's expression of wide-eyed wonder.
The pic full of Martians, well, I really wonder what the story is behind that... XD Now that there's a fic for the Phoenix one, well, I almost take that as a challenge... Tell you what. If Uakari does a fic about Fai pouncing on Kurogane in his assless chaps, I will feel compelled to write one for either the dino or the martians...
The last pic I had never seen yet! I love it! The color balance of the three panels just makes the overall thing look marvelous. And yes... I adore the scorch-marks on Syaoran's face with a blank space where his goggles were... Kids, this is why you wear the safety glasses!
Tell you what, if you need inspiration for steampunk, perhaps you could check out Girl Genius? (http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20040329) The whole archive is free online to read!

Date: 2011-02-14 07:48 pm (UTC)God, the stories behind the martians... I'm pretty sure Syaoran has high hopes to get information out of them on how to change the space time in order to let his parents come back -- but in the end it's obviously all set up by Fai to freak out Kuro-tan. Also, I wasn't looking too closely when thinking on just where the oxygen in the space suits came from. *snort* OMG, fiction would be so awesome! 8D On the one hand, I'd be so honored and happy that I might explode, and on the other one, I'm also doing these weird setups, because I'm absolutely convinced that craziness should expand in the TRC fandom, once again, may it be in fiction or art! So, I only have to convince Uakari that she has enough time to write something on Kurogane's manly pants? Well, let me try...
Thank you, again!
I'm actually really glad you like the colors, I was so bad with them just a year ago.Hahah, I just can't leave Syaoran alone... He would be the one reasonable enough to actually wear the goggles, though, so he had to be the poor guy with the soot-covered face, in the end -- drawing goggles on them reminded me so much of Fai not even once using his own in Piffle to actual cover his eyes... He's living too dangerously, as always, so no action for Fai in this one. XDWow, cool, thanks for the link! The backgrounds are pretty ingenious, I'll take a closer look at them, later! I've been doing a bit of reasearch and tried my hand on some more (http://th02.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2011/043/c/8/flying_steam_engine_03_by_konnichipuu-d39f4ap.jpg) interesting (http://konnichipuu.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=scraps#/d39etu6) engines (http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/043/7/1/flying_steam_engine_01_by_konnichipuu-d39en4r.jpg), in the meantime... So the next version of Kurogane's arm will probably look like it'd make more sense. X)
